Margaret Marchant lives in Adelaide, South Australia and is currently studying for Masters of Arts (Writing) at Swinburne University. When not composing and researching literary masterpieces for assignments and personal pleasure, her real job is working for the South Australian Government. Away from work and study Margaret enjoys reading, researching and writing just about anything historical. Of current interest is finding quirky stories about Australian historical figures that are desperately waiting to be told.
She is also ‘mum’ to Jess, a 3 year old Tenterfield Terrier cross – a rescue dog. This poem is her first ‘proper’ attempt at poetry and is the first time Margaret has had any of her writing published. Attending events such as ‘Adelaide Writer’s Week’ have inspired her interest in pursuing different avenues of writing. Some of her writing heroes are J K Rowling, Philippa Gregory, Christopher Koch, and Thomas Keneally.
