For John Philip

You came already formed
a silken scarf blowing
in the wind.

To unravel would be so easy
one thread is all it takes
to reduce the whole to nothing.

With pencil we start again
drawing a life we can see
here and beyond the frame.

The cloth on the loom
a new start made
a new design, the end
an open window.
