If all the lines begin with who, or why, or how

pointing directly at what they want to know

what hope is there in finding what we already know

but deny or neglect


The old man disintegrates before my very eyes

his thoughts, dust on the ground at my feet

as if to say; we’re not walking, we’re standing still

and this is what happens to us
